At this year’s Kurdish Film Festival in Berlin, the children’s book author, child and youth psychotherapist and Kurdish women activist Zilan Sarah Kößler will present her children’s book about the brave Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini for the first time in a special exhibition and reading. She will be present in person, reading and presenting short excerpts from the book. Jina lost her life because she wore her headscarf differently and was therefore murdered by the Iranian police. On the occasion of the approaching first anniversary of Jina’s death on
Sept. 16, 2023, we commemorate the trigger of the women’s revolution for “Woman, Life and Freedom,” in Kurdish “Jin, Jiyan, Azadì, from where the slogan originated, both in Iran and worldwide.
In addition, her children’s book entitled “Springtime of the Children of Hanau”, dedicated to the victims of the racist attack in Hanau, will also be presented for the first time.
The two books will later be translated into Kurdish, and the author’s goal is to use these books to address the issue of racism at a young age. In the long term, they will serve as school material and be used for workshops against racism.
Pages from the Book will be exhibited at Babylon from 6th until 12th of October.
Beim diesjährigen Kurdischen Filmfestival in Berlin wird die Kinderbuchautorin, Kinder- und Jugendpsychotherapeutin i.A., und kurdische Frauen Aktivistin Zilan Sarah Kößler zum ersten mal ihr Kinderbuch über die tapfere Kurdin Jina Mahsa Amini in einer speziellen Ausstellung und Lesung vorstellen. Sie wird persönlich anwesend sein, kurze Ausschnitte aus dem Buch vorlesen und präsentieren. Jina verlor ihr Leben, weil sie ihr Kopftuch anders trug und wurde daher von der iranischen Polizei ermordet. Anlässlich des ersten Todestags von Jina am 16.09.2023 erinnern wir an den Auslöser der Frauenrevolution für “Frau, Leben und Freiheit”, auf Kurdisch “Jin, Jiyan, Azadì”, woher der Slogan seinen Ursprung hat, sowohl im Iran als auch weltweit.
Die beiden Bücher sollen später ins Kurdische übersetzt werden, und das Ziel der Autorin ist es, mit diesen Büchern bereits in jungen Jahren das Thema Rassismus anzusprechen. Langfristig sollen sie als Schulmaterial dienen und für Workshops gegen Rassismus verwendet werden.
Ausschnitte aus dem Buch werden über den Zeitraum vom 06.10. Bis zum 12.10.2023 im Babylon ausgestellt sein.
